Model and artist Marra Datu Espiritu shared her passion and expertise in painting during an acrylic painting workshop held at the Hillside Restaurant on Friday.
The art class was the first workshop organised by Doha City Event Management & Services (DC Events) in collaboration with Marra Artistry.
With the theme “Paint My Name”, the participants were given tips and pointers on materials needed to start painting, proper use of acrylic brushes, mixing paints and blending techniques and easy steps to paint one’s name on canvas.
Marra also shared her personal journey in pursuing her love and passion of the arts. She said, “I started to draw when I was in Grade 1.
I was fond of joining competitions like poster making and mural painting. I won in many competitions. Also, I was a cartoonist in our school paper in College. All in all, I have been doing art works for 25 years and my expertise includes charcoal drawing, painting, face painting, poster making, mural painting, lay-outing cards poster, among others.”
DC Events in collaboration with Marra Artistry will be holding more art classes catering to different age groups. The organisers also plan to work with schools and universities to reach out to more young art enthusiasts in the country.
