BANGLADESHI expatriates in Qatar recently bade farewell to two of their prominent community leaders, Mohammed Abdus Sattar and Mohammed Salauddin, hailing them for their remarkable contribution to community welfare activities.
Sattar remained dedicated to community welfare activities since his arrival in Qatar in 1978 and was awarded a shield in recognition of his services. He served as the president of the Bangladeshi community forum until recently.
Mohammed Salauddin, a chemical engineer, joined Qatar Petroleum in 2008. During his stay in Qatar, he dedicated himself to developing the communication and leadership skills of the youth of the community. He was also founder president of Bangladesh Toastmasters’ Club and organised several community welfare activities. In recognition of his services, he was presented a memento by Mohammad Mahbur Rahman, head of Chancery and First Secretary at the Bangladesh Embassy.
Also present on the occasion were Warrant Officer Abdullah al Shammari, Faisal al Hudawi and Eng Anwar Hossein.
Officials from the Bangladesh Embassy and the Ministry of Interior, especially from the Community Outreach and Drugs Prevention departments of the MoI, were also present.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Mahbur Rahman lauded the services and valuable contributions of the outgoing community members towards the Bangladeshi community in Qatar.
Warrant Officer Abdullah al Shammari and Faisal al Hudawi presented an awareness programme on drugs prevention on the occasion. They urged community leaders to inform and raise awareness of the young community members on the issue.
