IN cooperation with Qatar Charity (QC), the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) has concluded its charity campaign titled ‘Digital Inclusion’, held at the Mall of Qatar. The campaign aimed at receiving donations of either used or new electronic devices to redistribute them to students, orphans, workers and widows in order to improve their technical knowledge and capabilities.
The in-kind donations of electronic devices such as computers, laptops, smartphones and tablets were collected at the booth. Activities for children such as colouring and handcrafts were also held at the booth.
“CRA has launched its first charity campaign aiming at contributing to the achievement of one of Qatar National Vision 2030 goals; fostering innovation, creativity and capacity building in young people, as well as enhancing cooperation with Qatar Charity, especially in matters related to CRA’s mandate; regulating Qatar’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector”,said Sheikh Noor al Thani, International Relations specialist, CRA.
“We are proud of our partnership with CRA and the Mall of Qatar and our cooperation in the ‘Digital Inclusion’ campaign, which falls within our keenness to establish strategic partnerships with various institutions and entities in the country to serve the community through charity work. It also stems from our keenness to involve Qatari society in volunteer work to support humanitarian programmes of Qatar Charity”, said Jassim al Emadi, director of the Local Development Department at Qatar Charity.
The CRA has launched this campaign as a participation in the Digital Inclusion Week for the Arab Region organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).
The Digital Inclusion Week aims at highlighting and raising awareness about mechanisms to integrate marginalised sections of Arab societies using ICTs, especially persons with disabilities, women, youth, children, rural and remote populations, as well as migrants.
