Qatar participated in the 11th meeting of GCC public prosecutors, attorney-generals and heads of public investigation and public prosecution bodies, in Muscat on Wednesday.
Attorney-General HE Dr Ali bin Fetais al Marri led Qatar’s delegation to the meeting.
The meeting discussed a range of topics, including the mechanism of selecting members of the inspection department in the public prosecution bodies and the follow-up mechanism of the procedures of the work of members of the public prosecution in the GCC States.
The meeting also discussed the unified guidelines for inspecting the work of the members of the public prosecution and organising training sessions for the members of the public prosecution to implement the rules of joint cooperation, where they made appropriate decisions and recommendations.
The meeting decided to present the Hamid Al Othman Award to a number of prosecutors in the Gulf Cooperation Council, including Ali
Saeed al Mohannadi, deputy attorney-general of the Public Prosecution in Qatar, for his efforts in combating terrorism.
The idea of Hamid Al Othman Award was first proposed by Qatar at the ninth meeting of the GCC public prosecutors in Doha in 2015, in honour of the late Kuwaiti Attorney General Hamid al Othman and in support of the efforts of deputy attorney-generals in the GCC.
