The German Ambassador to Qatar HE Hans-Udo Muzel has praised Qatar for successfully organising within a span of 10 days two of the world’s major sports tournaments – first, the IAAF World Athletics Championships 2019 that concluded some 10 days ago, followed by the World Beach Games 2019.
“Holding such major tournaments within 10 days’ time is really fantastic. I will say ‘Mabrook Qatar’,” he said, while talking to Qatar Tribune on the sidelines of a reception hosted by the German embassy at the Hotel St. Regis on Monday evening.
The German envoy said that some of the German players participating in the World Beach Games have been to Qatar on previous occasions and they have made friends. “It’s not only the competition. One gets the opportunity to explore the city and form alliances,” he said.
Meanwhile, talking to
Qatar Tribune, Uschi Schmitz, Germany’s Chef de Mission and Vice President of the German Olympic Sports Confederation, said, “It is amazing to be here in Qatar. It’s a modern and a wonderful country and its people are hospitable. The arrangements are excellent and impressive.”
Giannina Bonnemann, water skii jumper, European champion and winner of the 3rd place position in the recently held World Championship in Malaysia, said her target is to win the World Championship. She lauded the arrangements and hospitality of the Qatari people.
A number of German School students, members of the German community and German embassy officials attended the reception hosted by the German embassy.
