For the second time this year, Commercial Bank (CB) participated in the Career Village event organised by Qatar Career Development Center, member of Qatar Foundation for Education, at the Education City from September 30 to October 2, 2019.
Bringing together representatives of leading organisations and companies in Qatar, the initiative mainly targets high-school students and seeks to familiarise them with the dynamics and challenges of Qatar’s labour market, the bank said in a statement on Wednesday.
As innovative as always, Commercial Bank set up a branch mock-up which featured a customer service desk, teller desk and other services found at the bank, allowing young students to experience the main daily operations and to acquire a better and more comprehensive understanding of the bank’s cutting-edge technologies.
Assisted by the bank’s employees, students were encouraged to put in good use their communication and teamwork skills by working in a customer service scenario. Not were they only encouraged to participate in the event but students were also invited to enroll in the bank’s upcoming annual “Young Bankers” internship programme, which is part of the bank’s commitment to helping next generations develop the skills they need to succeed in their future careers.
Commercial Bank Chief Human Capital Officer Sheikh Jassim Saud al Thani said, “Building our future line comes early, to experience is the new way to grow and learn, we, at Commercial Bank, support Qatari students in every way possible.
“We are honoured to take part in the Career Village exhibition, in an attempt to pave the way for students to make quality decisions as they make the first step in their future career paths.”
Haya al Hajri, National Talent Development Manager, hailed the bank’s participation in the initiative, and said, “Seeing young motivated students eager to learn and to explore the professional world motivates us in return to renew our commitment towards them by implementing internship programmes such as Young Bankers, allowing them to discover more about the banking sector through first-hand experience and gain work experience at the same time.”
