The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Monday launched an e-portal to issue visas for those interested in visiting the country.
The Qatar visa e-portal will receive visa applications from people around the world to enter the country for major events and for various activities including business and investment.
“The initiative of Qatar visa e-portal is to facilitate the accessibility and application process for more than 90 nationalities and ease their way into Qatar,” Director of Visa Support Services Dept at MoI Major Abdullah Khalifa al Mohannadi said at a press conference on Monday.
Qatar visa e-portal, through Hukoomi login, will be comprehensive for all visas with a focus on events that are held in the country. He said visas will be issued within 48 hours from the date of receipt of the application, if it meets all the required conditions.
Muhannadi said the visitors’ arrival to Qatar is growing rapidly thanks to diverse programmes that the country has embraced, including enabling citizens of more than 80 countries to obtain immediate visas upon entering Hamad International Airport, which made Qatar among the most open countries in the world.
The e-portal will help increase the economic growth of the country and in the first phase, the service will be limited to visa applications from outside Qatar, for those wishing to attend various events.
The portal contains a special section of events containing all the details of events held in the country, allowing people to see all the events and stay informed of the ongoing events in Qatar.
He said people can follow the application for e-visa service through Qatar visa portal platform, as well as it allows applicants to obtain a visa to visit Qatar and attend events hosted by the state.
He said an applicant can apply for visa within 90 days and at least four days before travel.
The passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry into Qatar. This service cannot be used to obtain a visa for children registered with their parents’ passports.
Regarding Qatar Visa Centers, Mohannadi said Qatar currently has more than 14 visa centres operating in six countries.
More than 140,000 visas have been issued since the beginning of its work, pointing to the growth and increasing rate of services provided at these centers, especially with the number of applicants reaching 1800 in Qatar visa centers daily. He said the next Qatar Visa Center will be opened in Tunisia.
