The Economic Zones Company (Manateq) on Sunday awarded Al Wukair Logistics Park development contract to Gulf Warehousing Company (GWC) under the public-private-partnership model.
According to an agreement signed between the two parties, Qatar’s leading logistics provider GWC will develop the 1.48 square kilometre Al Wukair Logistics Park under build, operate and transfer (BOT) system with an investment of QR1.5 billion. The PPP deal with 30-year lease tenure will allow GWC to design, finance, develop, operate and maintain the entire development, consisting of dry, cold, frozen and chemical storage facilities as well as light workshops and warehousing open yards. Manateq Chief Executive Officer Fahad Rashid al Kaabi said, “The Al Wukair Logistics Park will be developed in two phases. Work on the first phase representing almost 40 percent of the park will begin immediately and will be completed within two years. Rest of the park will be developed within five years.”
